Admission Requirements

Admission Criteria:

WEIGHT: Boys and girls ages 11-18 must be at least 20 pounds overweight and have been struggling with their weight for at least one year.

ATTITUDE: Participants must view attending Wellspring Adventure Camp North Carolina as an opportunity. The Adventure Camp will not admit campers who are clearly opposed to attending, or who have a history of oppositional behavior or violence.

MEDICAL: The Adventure Camp will not admit campers with medical issues requiring hospitalization or that will prevent campers from participating fully in Adventure camp activities.

If you are interested in Wellspring Adventure Camp for this summer, submit an application in one of the following ways:

A deposit is due with the application at the rate of $750 per four-week session ($1,500 for eight weeks). Once the application and deposit are received, your family will be sent an enrollment packet with questions for the camper, parents, and the family doctor. The deposit is non-refundable, unless upon receipt of the enrollment packet Wellspring denies the camper admission. Campers are admitted once all forms have been received and reviewed.

Payment: The balance of the tuition after the deposit is due at least seven days before the session start date. Payment can be made by check, money order, credit card, or student loan disbursement. The listed price and fees include any and all expenses while the camper remains at Wellspring Adventure Camp in North Carolina with the exception of any required medical treatment.  To learn ways to afford weight loss camp, learn more about loans and insurance reimbursement.

Dismissal: Wellspring reserves the right to remove any participant whose health or actions create a safety risk, impedes the operation of the camp, or puts at risk the safety of other campers. Wellspring is a safe environment. Violence and threats of violence are not tolerated and are causes for dismissal. Other dismissal offenses include the use of alcohol, tobacco and illegal use of drugs. Another reason for dismissal is refusal to participate in key elements of the program, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and morning walks. Attending a Wellspring Camp must be viewed as an opportunity, not as an unfair burden.

Cancellation Insurance: Cancellation Insurance may be purchased from Wellspring for 15% of the total tuition cost. Families who choose to purchase this insurance are entitled to a pro rata tuition refund for all days missed. This insurance may be selected at the time tuition is paid (at least seven days before the session start date).
